By decision of our University Senate, students have been granted two supplementary exam opportunities covering the Spring semester of the 2025–2026 academic year. Since there are students with and without practical courses in this situation, the process has been left to the discretion of the department chairs within the timeframe between the start date of the Spring semester of the 2025-2026 academic year and the last day of the Spring semester make-up exams, in accordance with the principles outlined below.

Matters Regarding Make-up Exams

  • Students who are eligible to take a make-up exam must pay the contribution fee between the dates specified in the academic calendar for the Spring semester of the 2025-2026 academic year—the semester in which they will take the make-up exam—after submitting their applications for the make-up exam. Click here for all announcements regarding tuition fees.
  • For all theoretical courses required for graduation in which a student has failed (courses never taken; or failed with an F0, FF, FD, or DD grade) in their graduation study plan will be granted two additional exam opportunities covering the Spring semester of the 2025–2026 academic year, following the semester in which they complete their maximum study period.
  • For all practical courses in the degree program—such as practicals, labs, projects, studios, workshops, sketches, design, fieldwork, seminars, capstone projects, mandatory internships, etc.— , students will be granted two additional exam attempts during the Spring semester of the 2025–2026 academic year, following the preparation of a practical training program of at least four weeks by the relevant Department Chairs, to be completed within the semester.
  • Students who have only an internship remaining in their academic plan or who wish to take advantage of the additional exam opportunities due to failed courses—including those taken alongside the internship—may complete their internship during the additional exam period by paying the tuition fee for the relevant semester. Mandatory internship procedures, which are classified as practical courses, will be conducted in accordance with the provisions of the YTÜ Internship Guidelines.
  • The Four-Semester Extension Right for Students Who Do Not Use Their Additional Exam Right (Those with a Maximum of Five Failed Courses) will begin as of the Spring Semester of the 2025-2026 Academic-Academic Year, and these students will be able to register for courses via OBS until March 6, 2026, by paying the contribution fee.
  • If students complete the course(s) they are required to take in their elective group, they are not required to take a make-up exam for any additional courses they have taken from that group. Students who have taken extra courses from the same elective pool must submit a written request to the Department Chair of their registered department to have these courses removed.
  • Students who have completed their maximum study period will be granted the right to take a makeup exam for courses in their study plan with a DC grade (conditional pass) if they request it. Students in this situation must also submit an application through the system to improve their grade.
  • Students who have completed their maximum study period are exempt from the grade point average requirement and/or prerequisite restrictions set by the Senate for course selection during retakes and extensions.
  • For students who have completed their maximum study period and will benefit from additional exam and extension rights, Article 22(b) of the “Yıldız Technical University Associate and Bachelor’s Degree Education and Teaching Regulations,” which states: “For a student to be eligible to take a capstone project, they must have successfully completed a number of courses equivalent to at least 75% of the total credits in the curriculum, and their cumulative GPA must be at least 2.00.”
  • For practical courses not included among those to be conducted online by the faculties, the procedures for make-up programs and makeup exams will be determined in accordance with a schedule to be announced in April, based on decisions to be made by the Council of Higher Education, and will be announced at a later date. No make-up exams will be held for the make-up sessions and additional exams for practical courses. Students must apply to exercise their right to take the additional exam by paying the tuition fee for the relevant semester by the announced dates. Students who do not apply by the announced dates, or who apply but do not take the exam, will be deemed to have waived these rights and will be declared to have failed.
