Dear Students,
As part of the 2025–2026 academic year, the following courses, which are included in the educational plans of our university’s departments and offered by the relevant departments,

Department of Mathematics: MAT1071 Mathematics 1, MAT1821 Mathematics

Department of Physics: FIZ1001 Physics 1, FIZ1002 Physics 2

Department of Chemistry: KIM1170 General Chemistry
Exemption exams will be held for these Basic Sciences courses. Applications will be accepted online through the application system in accordance with the guidelines specified below, and the exams will be administered in person on the dates indicated.
Basic Science Courses in YTÜ Undergraduate Programs (Please apply through the online application system for the course(s) in your program.)
Exemption Exam Guidelines
1. Only students who have recently registered through ÖSYM are eligible to take the exemption exam.
2. For students who earn a grade of CC or higher on the exemption exam, these courses will be recorded on their transcripts with grades and credits.
3. Students wishing to take the exemption exam must complete the “Exemption Exam Form” available at muafiyet.yildiz.edu.tr during the announced application dates, print the form, sign it by hand, and submit it to the exam proctor on the day of the exam.
4. Students who enroll through transfer are not eligible to take the exemption exam.
5. Students may take the exemption exam only once.
6. Students who do not arrive at the exam at the specified time or who arrive without having registered will not be admitted to the exam.
7. Students must bring their Turkish ID card/national ID, university enrollment certificate/university student ID card, and the hand-signed Exemption Exam Form to the exam. Students with incomplete documents will not be admitted to the exam.
8. Information regarding the location and time of the exemption exam will be announced on the YTÜ Student Affairs website and the websites of the relevant departments.
Exemption from Basic Science Courses for Students with an International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma
Students who have been admitted to our University’s undergraduate programs for the 2025–2026 academic year, hold an International Baccalaureate (IB) diploma, and meet the following conditions
- Students who scored at least a 6 out of 7 in Mathematics HL (High Level) may, upon request, be exempted from either “MAT1071 Mathematics 1” or “MAT1821 Mathematics,”
- Students who earned a score of at least 6 out of 7 in Physics HL (High Level) may, upon request, be exempt from the “FIZ1001 Physics 1” course,
- Students who have earned a score of at least 6 out of 7 in Chemistry HL (High Level) will be granted “Exemption” from the “KIM1170 General Chemistry” course
and will be considered “EXEMPT” without the grade being included in their Weighted Cumulative Grade Point Average (WCGPA).
Students applying for exemption must submit the Course Exemption Application Form along with official documents obtained from the relevant institution proving that they meet the conditions specified above to the Department Chairs of their respective departments between September 8 and 12, 2025. In accordance with Article 6, Paragraph 5 of the YTÜ Equivalency and Credit Transfer Procedures Guidelines, applications submitted after this date will not be accepted.
Students who submit an exemption request to be exempt from Basic Science Courses under the conditions specified above may not take the Basic Science Course exemption exams to be held at the beginning of the semester.
Students’ exemption applications will be evaluated by the departmental credit transfer committee by September 17, 2025, and forwarded to the dean’s office by the department chair for submission to the faculty administrative board. Course exemptions approved by the relevant Faculty Administrative Board will be entered into the student automation system by the Faculty Student Affairs Office. Academic adjustment forms will be delivered to the student by the Department Chair in exchange for a signature.
Students granted course exemptions may apply to the relevant department chair by Friday, October 10, 2025, at the latest, to request enrollment in new courses in place of the exempted ones.
