Matters Regarding Make-up Exams

  • Students who will take advantage of their supplementary exam right must pay the contribution fee between the dates specified in the academic calendar for the Fall semester of the 2025-2026 academic year—the semester in which they will use their supplementary exam right—after submitting their applications for the supplementary exam. Click here for all announcements regarding tuition fees.

  • Students who have failed all theoretical courses in their education plan (courses they have never taken, or courses they took but failed with grades of F0, FF, FD, or DD) will be granted two supplementary exam opportunities covering the Fall semester of the 2025-2026 academic-Academic Year, which covers the Fall semester.

  • For all practical courses in the curriculum required for graduation—such as practicals, labs, projects, studios, workshops, sketching, design, fieldwork, seminars, capstone projects, mandatory internships, etc.— , will be granted two additional exam attempts during the Fall semester of the 2025–2026 academic year. The relevant Department Chairs will prepare a practical training program of at least 4 weeks, following which students will be granted these two additional exam attempts to be taken within the semester.

  • Students who have only an internship remaining in their academic plan or who wish to take advantage of the additional exam opportunities due to failed courses—including the internship—may complete their internship during the additional exam period by paying the tuition fee for the relevant semester. Mandatory internship procedures, which are classified as practical courses, will be conducted in accordance with the provisions of the “YTÜ Internship Guidelines.”

  • The Four-Semester Extension Period for Students Who Do Not Use Their Make-up Exam Rights (With No More Than Five Failed Courses) will begin as of the Fall semester of the 2025–2026 academic-Academic Year, Fall semester, and these students will be able to register for courses via OBS until October 10, 2025, by paying the tuition fee.

  • If students complete the course(s) they are required to take in their elective group, they are not required to take a make-up exam for any additional courses they have taken from that group. Students who have taken extra courses from the same elective pool must submit a written request to the Department Chair of their registered department to have these courses removed.

  • Students who have completed their maximum study period will be granted the right to take a makeup exam for courses in their study plan marked with a DC grade (conditional pass) if they request it. Students in this situation must also submit an application through the system to improve their grades.

  • Students who have completed their maximum study period are exempt from the grade point average requirement and/or prerequisite restrictions established by the Senate for course selection during retake exams and extended periods.

  • For students who have completed their maximum study period and will benefit from the rights to retake exams and extended time, the provision in Article 22(b) of the “Yıldız Technical University Associate and Bachelor’s Degree Education and Teaching Regulations” stating that “For a student to be eligible to take a capstone project, they must have successfully completed a number of courses equivalent to at least 75% of the total credits in the curriculum, and their cumulative GPA must be at least 2.00.”

  • For practical courses not included among the courses to be conducted online by the faculties, the procedures for make-up programs and supplementary exams will be determined in accordance with a schedule to be announced in April, based on decisions to be made by the Council of Higher Education, and will be announced at a later date. No make-up exams will be held for the make-up sessions and additional exams for practical courses. Students must apply to exercise their right to take a make-up exam by paying the tuition fee for the relevant semester by the announced dates. Students who do not apply by the announced dates, or who apply but do not take the exam, will be deemed to have waived these rights and will be declared to have failed.
